Discord Color Text Generator
Discord can display colored text inside ANSI code blocks. Pick a color, enter your message, and copy a ready-to-paste block for supported clients.
What are Discord ANSI colors?
ANSI code blocks let Discord render limited text colors on desktop clients. The text sits inside a code block tagged with the ansi language identifier.
Not every Discord client renders ANSI colors identically. Desktop usually shows colors; mobile may display plain monospace text instead.
How ANSI blocks work in Discord
The generator wraps your text with ANSI escape codes for the color you choose, then places everything inside triple-backtick fences labeled ansi.
Each color maps to a standard terminal color name: red, green, yellow, blue, magenta, cyan, white, and gray.
When to use colored text
Colored ANSI text works best for short highlights: warnings, role names in a legend, or section headers inside a pinned message.
Avoid relying on color alone to convey meaning. Some users cannot see certain colors clearly, and mobile readers may not see color at all.
Limitations to know
ANSI blocks do not work inside embed titles. Stick to message body text or embed descriptions.
Very long colored blocks can be clipped or hard to edit after posting. Keep messages concise.
Combining with other formatting
ANSI blocks are separate from bold or italic markdown. You typically choose one approach per line.
For server rules or welcome posts, ANSI colors pair well with divider lines copied from our dividers tool.
